Zack Wheeler fans 12, Phillies beat the Red Sox 6-2

The Philadelphia Phillies were trying to avoid a five game losing streak this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. Zack Wheeler was on the mound and quickly stopped the bleeding. Wheeler struck out 12 and allowed one run on three hits and one walk over 7 1/3 innings of dominant pitching. On the season, he has a 2.38 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP through 10 starts.

Wheeler became the first Phillies pitcher to have a sub-2.50 ERA and a sub-1.00 WHIP in the first 10 starts of the season since Doc Halladay in 2011. The Phillies beat the Red Sox 6-2 while the Sixers beat the Wizards 125-118 across the street at the Wells Fargo Center.
Phillies Offense
The Phillies did the majority of their damage in the first inning. Rhys Hoskins continued to hit and gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead on an opposite field two-out single to score Odubel Herrera. Two batters later, Brad Miller hit an opposite field three-run home run to make it 4-0 Phillies.

The Phillies improved to 23-24 on the season and will now hit the road on a nine game road trip. They will start in Miami against the Marlins with Zach Eflin (2-3, 3.77 ERA) on the mound against Trevor Rodgers (6-2, 1.74).
