Tyrese Maxey: The Sixers Hidden Gem on the Bench

An underrated aspect of the Sixers is their depth. It may not always seem like they have a deep bench, but when coach Doc Rivers uses the right rotations, the bench tends to perform at a high level. They can go to Matisse Thybulle for lockdown defense. They can rely on Dwight for reliable backup big man play. They can use their poised veteran in George Hill as a combo guard. Still, there is a young player on that bench that provides something no one else can. That player is none other than Tyrese Maxey.
Maxey has the ability to generate offense from anywhere on the floor. He can be that spark that the bench might need on some nights. Shake Milton has been viewed as that guy. But he is far more comfortable spotting up off the ball. Maxey just has a different level of athleticism and skill that the others simply don’t have.
Tyrese Maxey’s stats as a starter
- 18.6 Points
- 4.3 Rebounds
- 3.9 Assists
- 50% From the Field
- 33.3% From 3
- 85% From the Line
