Eagles might have already found their starting left tackle for 2021

The Eagles might only be a few weeks into voluntary OTAs, but we might have our first glimpse at the starting offensive line for 2021. Although for several of the positions, nothing is changing. Brandon Brooks, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Isaac Seumalo are all locked in, but the battle for left tackle is wide open. The two candidates are Jordan Mailata who burst out onto the scene last season and former first-round pick Andre Dillard who sat out the 2020 season with a torn bicep.
Brooks posted this photo on his Instagram yesterday of what looked to be the Eagles starting offensive line. There are just five of them, and everyone is lined up at their respective positions. Another interesting note is guard Brandon Brooks being a full go for the Eagles, having recovered from his torn Achilles last offseason.

This photo has Mailata lined up at what would be left tackle, presumably taking first-team reps. Now, this doesn’t exactly prove Mailata is the starter because he and Dillard could be switching reps at practice. Also, just because Jordan is starting now doesn’t mean he will keep the job through the offseason.
Regardless, this is something to keep an eye on as the offseason continues. The battle for the LT slot is going to be electric no matter what. Jordan Mailata is a freak of nature and can play almost anywhere on the line of scrimmage.
Meanwhile, Andre Dillard never got a fair chance, in my opinion. He was drafted as a project who needed weight and wouldn’t be ready on day one, so he naturally struggled when having to play in his rookie season. During the 2020 offseason, Dillard put on muscle but wasn’t able to put it to use after being injured during the Eagles’ training camp.
