Phillies plan to switch things up on the road with alternate uniforms

The Philadelphia Phillies road struggles continued last night with a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. They are now 11-20 on the road this season and sit at an even .500 overall. At 32-32 they are in second place in the National League and four games behind the NL East leading New York Mets at 33-25.
Phillies Missed Opportunity
It was a wasted opportunity last night for the Phillies against a below average pitcher for the Dodgers. It won’t get easier for them the remainder of the series. They will now face two left handed pitchers in Julio Urias (9-2, 3.56 ERA) and a pitcher by the name of Clayton Kershaw. As for the Phillies, they will have Zach Eflin and Zack Wheeler on the mound.
A change is coming for the Phillies. Starting tomorrow in the series finale against the Dodgers, the Phillies will wear their red uniforms. They will wear the same on Sunday against the Giants. Per reports, the Phillies will begin to wear red road uniforms throughout the rest of the season.
Here are some quotes from Todd Zolecki’s article on Phillies.com regarding the Phillies making a switch from gray road uniforms to red uniforms.
“I think wearing gray all the time is just boring,” Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper said. “I mean, really. Being able to kind of put something else out there that’s a little bit different. … We’ve been talking about it as a team. We kind of took it up the ladder and talked to people about it and they said, ‘Hey, let’s give it a try.'”
Harper continued:
“A lot of teams do it,” Harper said. “They go on the road, they wear their blues or they were their black or whatever they have. I know as a team we thought we wanted to do something different. The red jersey is definitely a fit.”
At this point, we’ll take any type of help we can get on the road. If the Phillies want to mix things up and start wearing red uniforms then I’m all for it. Big fan of the red. The gray uniforms look boring and the Phillies need a spark. If Bryce Harper wants to switch things up, then we should go for it. I’d probably leave the Phanatic as close to his original colors. I’m not even sure this picture is real but it’s a terrifying visual.

Zach Eflin is on the mound tonight. First pitch is at 10:10pm. Gotta love the late night West Coast games.
