Phillies lose another player due to injury last night against the Giants

Philadelphia Phillies catcher Andrew Knapp will enter concussion protocol after taking a foul ball off of his catchers mask in last night’s 5-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants. It was honestly surprising that Knapp stayed in the game to finish the 6th inning before JT Realmuto took over behind the plate.
With Knapp heading into concussion protocol, the Phillies will call up Rafael Marchan from Triple A and fly him out to San Francisco, where the Phillies will finish up the final two games of a tough road trip against the Giants today and tomorrow. Realmuto had started five consecutive games for the Phillies and struck out last night in his only plate appearance after entering the game.
The Phillies took the loss last night after some horrendous defense and the typical command issues from Vincent Velasquez. Marchan, is 22 years old and has appeared in eight games for the Phillies over the last two seasons while starting six games. He’s 7-for-21 at the major league level with a double, a home run, and three RBI.
