Joel Embiid fined $35,000 for altercation with John Collins

Just ahead of tonight’s Game Seven matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, the NBA has fined Joel Embiid $35,000 for his altercation with Hawks’ forward John Collins. Joel got Collins’ chin with his elbow during a layup attempt, and the two got in each other’s faces. While Embiid had his arms out to show he didn’t want to fight, Trae Young shoved Joel to escalate the situation further.

Oddly enough, neither Collins nor Young was disciplined, while Hawks center Bruno Fernando was suspended for Game Seven for leaving Atlanta’s bench. During Game Six, both Embiid and Collins were given a technical foul for the incident. Both sides have been chippy for the entire series, so this will likely continue into tonight.

Another fine could be on the way for Joel Embiid after he publicly criticized the referees’ one-sided calls on Friday night. The 76ers return home for Game Seven tonight at 8:00, hoping to secure a Conference Final matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
