Phillies promote JD Hammer, Herrera to IL

The Philadelphia Phillies have selected the contract of RHP JD Hammer to the major league roster; the team announced Saturday afternoon. This move corresponds with Odubel Herrera being placed on the 10-Day IL with a left ankle injury.

The Phillies have brought righty JD Hammer back to the majors. Odúbel Herrera is going on the IL with left ankle tendinitis.

Hammer played well in Lehigh Valley this season, posting a 1.74 ERA and a 1.113 WHIP in 20.2 innings pitched. Hammer spent 19 innings in the major leagues in 2019, putting up a 3.79 ERA and 1.421 WHIP in 19 innings pitched.

The Phillies are back in action and look to even up the series against the Boston Red Sox at 4:10 PM this afternoon.
