Lehigh Valley IronPigs land first NCAA sponsorship in professional sports history

Put the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the history books. Earlier today, the IronPigs announced they signed Carley Barjaktarovich to become their first “IronPigs Athlete.” Carley is a softball player for Lehigh University and the first NCAA player to land a sponsorship with a professional sports team.
“I’m honored to be given this opportunity and am very excited to represent the IronPigs organization as a collegiate athlete,” said Lehigh University Softball Player Carley Barjaktarovich. “It is a little surreal to be a part of something so new that will have a huge impact on college athletes for years to come. I’m eager to see what the future holds and am glad to be a part of the IronPigs family!”
Barjaktarovich will work with the IronPigs on social media, merchandise, and appearances, specifically on Thursday, July 22, when Lehigh Valley will be hosting “Softball Night”. The NCAA allowed athletes to accept endorsements back on July 1st, which has opened the door to several opportunities for college athletes.
For Carley, she had a batting average of .471, hit four doubles, one triple, and six RBIs in with 36 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases in 34 games played this past season. Her honors from this season included the Patriot League Softball Defensive Player of the Year, All-Patriot League Second Team, and Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
