Phillies continue to attack pitching, select Micah Ottenbreit with 4th round pick

The Phillies continued to attack pitching today for their fourth-round selection, selecting pitcher Micah Ottenbreit from Trenton High School. Ottenbreit is a 6’4 right-handed pitcher from Trenton, Michigan, and was committed to Michigan State University. According to Perfect Game, Ottenbreit was the number two recruit in Michigan and the best pitcher in the state.

Ottenbreit is known for his 94 MPH velocity alongside a powerful curveball and changeup. This selection is the second pick the Phillies have used on pitching this draft. They selected Andrew Painter last night 13th overall, and it makes sense with their depleted farm system.

Alongside the pitching staff, Philadelphia has been trying to bolster their outfield, drafting Ethan Wilson and Jordan Viars with their second and third-round picks. The Phillies will be back on the clock with their fifth-round selection shortly.
