What in the actual hell is going on with New Era and the Fanatics team shops? Every week, we are subjected to new hats for our favorite sports teams and they continue to get more ridiculous. A few weeks ago, we had the “Local Market” hats that were a complete disaster and eventually removed from the store. Then, after you thought it couldn’t get any worse, new hats were released a week later that were in fact, worse. This week, we have the upside down hats. Seriously. 

Phillies upside down hats, and directly on the New Era website, they even have upside down 76ers hats. 

Are we getting trolled? For whatever reason, every hat article we post at The Liberty Line blows up. None of which, are very nice words about Fanatics and New Era. Yet here we are, a new week, and a new bizarre hat release. 

The upside down hats aren’t even as bad as the other hats. I’m more concerned at the lack of creativity from teams and apparel companies. We are just flipping things upside down now and selling? Unless there was an error in the embroidery department where an employee made a mistake by putting the hats on the embroidery machines wrong, there’s no reason for this hat to be sold anywhere. 

I would love to know who’s buying these hats. Is this a marketing tactic to have everyone retweet bad hats and write about them with hopes that it will drive traffic and sales? Sports Radio WIP does it with their bad sports takes, maybe the hat industry is joining the trend. In the end, they have to be purchasing because they are a joke. I refuse to believe anyone actually likes these releases.
