Golden State unveils Philadelphia Warriors inspired uniforms

Although they no longer play in Philadelphia, Golden State has recently released their throwback uniforms for the 2021/2022 season based on their tenure as the Philadelphia Warriors. The jerseys were originally worn 50 years ago in the 1961/1962 season, the Warriors’ final season in Philadelphia before moving out west.
There are many similarities between the two uniforms, but Golden State’s rendition isn’t an exact replica. Golden State’s has Warriors across the front while the original uniform had “PHILA”. Also, the white outline and shadow are much more exaggerated in the newer version and looking at the font, it seems to be different as well. The collar and colors of the uniform do look to be identical, though.

Over the last several seasons, Golden State has worn several throwbacks, but this is the first from their time in Philadelphia. The franchise was founded in Philadelphia in 1946 and played in the city of brotherly love for over 15 years, winning two titles during their time here. There has been no word yet on any of the Sixers’ alternate uniforms for the upcoming season.
