Pete Alonso to Mets fans: Smile and Watch Baseball?

The Philadelphia Phillies flat out embarrassed the New York Mets over the weekend at Citizens Bank Park. The Fightins are now on an eight game winning streak and 8-2 over their last 10 games. They are in first place, six games over .500 and have a two game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.
The Mets, however, are 2-8 over their last 10 games, just got swept by the Phillies, and lost 3-of-4 to the Marlins before heading to Philadelphia.
After yesterday’s game, Pete Alonso delivered a very bizarre message to Mets fans.
“Mets fans, believe in us. Don’t just believe, know. Because I understand these are tough times, not just in baseball but in life in general. Know that this is just a speed bump and a challenge. And also smile. You get to watch baseball. Even though we’re – it’s a game. I know we have the most passionate fanbase in baseball, and I understand that it’s frustrating. It’s frustrating for us. But just understand that we’re here together. We’re all in this together, and we – we got this. We got this. Just smile and know that we got this.”
Yeah Pete, I’m sure everyone in New York just wants to smile and watch baseball after you completely choked and fell from first to third place in the division and can’t win a baseball game to save your life. You really hit this one out of the park buddy. Between you and Steven Cohen, the Mets are the laughing stock of the MLB right now and shown in the video above from the TLL Instagram account, you’re also delusional.
The Philadelphia media had a meltdown after Rhys Hoskins suggested that they write about the “good things” instead of just focusing on the bad earlier this season after splitting a four game series with the New York Mets. Hoskins was correct by the way, the media just couldn’t handle hearing criticism about themselves because they are a bunch of dorks.
Could you imagine, if someone on the Phillies said something like this after losing 2-of-3 against the Pirates last week? Yikes. The Mets are clearly down bad. No Jacob deGrom, no Francisco Lindor, and dropping from first to third place in a matter of three games over the weekend is tough to deal with.
Regardless, “Smile and watch baseball” is a pretty wild message to deliver after getting your asses kicked all over Philadelphia. As a lifelong Phillies fan, trust me. We know.
As for the Phillies, they are currently riding an eight-game winning streak and are in first place in the National League East after sweeping the Mets over the weekend at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies have a day off today before welcoming the Los Angeles Dodgers to Citizens Bank Park tomorrow.
On another note, shout out to The Glizz for handing out hot dogs over the weekend. Dude is an instant legend in my book.
Make sure you grab some shirts and RING IT. Red October here we come.
