Phillies Roster Moves and Tonight’s Starting Lineup vs Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies have surprised everyone over the past week and have fought back into the National League East division race, entering tonight two games behind the leading Atlanta Braves. They are also in the mix for a Wild Card spot and only two games behind the Cincinnati Reds. With six straight wins and seven straight games of scoring seven or more runs, they will look to keep momentum at an all-time high tonight in Miami against the Marlins.
As expected, the Phillies just announced some roster moves ahead of tonight’s game, with both Travis Jankowski and Didi Gregorius returning from the paternity list. In corresponding moves, the Phillies optioned both Jorge Bonifacio and my guy Nick Maton.
Although I don’t agree with sending Nick Maton back down to the minors, the Phillies were pretty much out of roster spots to carry another infielder. As for Bonifacio, he didn’t do much of anything during his time with the Phillies, so no love lost there.
