Six finalists named for the Flyers’ 2021/2022 Hall of Fame

Earlier this morning, six finalists were announced for the Philadelphia Flyers 2021/2022 Hall of Fame. The six nominees include Simon Gagne, Paul Holmgren, Bob Kelly, Lou Nolan, Mark Recchi, and Rick Tocchet. According to the team usually, only one nominee is chosen, but it is not the limit, so several could be inducted.

“These six nominees have each made historic contributions to the Flyers organization, and this list of Flyers greats is a reminder of the rich history and tradition of our organization. I’m looking forward to seeing the voting committee’s final decision, and we’re even more excited to honor a new member or members of the Flyers Hall of Fame at a game this season.” – Dave Scott

The last Flyer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was Jimmy Watson back in 2016. There have been several occasions in team history where two or sometimes three players were inducted. So with nobody chosen in the last five years combined with a stacked class, several finalists could likely be enshrined this season.

For Philly, their season kicks off in just over a month on October 15th. There is a lot of hype around the team following their significant changes to their defensive pairings, so hopefully, they can live up to the expectations.
