Former 76ers player calls Allen Iverson the “best athlete he’s ever seen”

Allen Iverson is considered by many to be one of, if not the most, influential figure in NBA history. Yesterday, upcoming Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Chris Webber had some very high praise for Iverson.
“A.I. is the best athlete that I’ve ever seen in my life. Period. He’s the best player I’ve ever played with. Period. And I wish I could have got there before — I wish I could have got there with a good knee. Out of all the players that played with him, I averaged the most points.
It made me feel good and it pissed me off because I think I could’ve given him seven or eight more points. It was an honor to play with him. I think about the fans of Philly, and they get a terrible rap, but they showed me love when they shouldn’t have. They showed me at a time where they didn’t have to.”
That is some high praise for the Sixers legend. Webber played against some incredible NBA players during his career, including Michael Jordan and LeBron James, so this is no small comparison.
Webber was traded to Philly from Sacramento back in 2005 for pennies and was unfortunately never that productive. During his time with the 76ers, Chris Webber teamed up with Allen Iverson and averaged a high of 20 points and ten rebounds but missed a lot of time due to knee injuries. Eventually, Philly bought out the remainder of Webber’s contract, and he left for Detroit.
Alongside Webber; Chris Bosh, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace, and several others will be inducted this Saturday at 7:00. Allen Iverson was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame back in 2016. For the 76ers, the Ben Simmons saga lingers on with training camp just a few weeks away.

Glad he is finally getting the praise he deserves.
