Matisse Thybulle talks Ben Simmons on JJ Redick’s Podcast

Matisse Thybulle joined Old Man and a Three Podcast (JJ Redick Podcast) to discuss a variety of topics. The biggest topic that came up, of course, was Thybulle’s teammate Ben Simmons. JJ Redick asked Matisse if he thought that the 76ers could have handled the end of last season a little better. Redick continued saying that it seemed from an outsider, that Ben Simmons was thrown under the bus following the 76ers game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Thybulle commented that his foul, which was very costly at the end of Game 7, was almost never talked about. That’s very true. Embiid’s turnovers, Tobias Harris shooting 8-for-24 and missing layups, and questionable 10-man rotations from Doc Rivers, were also rarely brought up as the main reasons that the 76ers lost game 7. All played a factor, but as we all know, the most glaring was Ben Simmons and him passing to Thybulle instead of taking a wide open dunk to tie the game with roughly 3 minutes and 30 seconds remaining.

Thybulle continued to say that both sides haven’t helped themselves and that’s the reason why they are in the situation they are now with Ben Simmons planning to hold out when Sixers Training Camp kicks off next week.

Very wise words from the young Thybulle. The entire situation sucks. There’s plenty of blame to go around. Ben Simmons however, still holds the majority of the blame and rightfully so. As a big supporter of Ben Simmons, for him to now refuse to play “another game for the 76ers” is honestly unacceptable.
