Preseason Game 4 Preview: Bruins @ Flyers

We finally got to see what might be the opening night lineup on Saturday night when the Capitals came to South Philly. The Flyers outplayed Washington for the most part, and came away with the win 3-1. We saw Rasmus Ristolainen waste zero time in bringing his physical style of play to Philadelphia, pretty sure he knocked about 3-4 guys on their asses by the mid-frame of the 2nd period.
Ryan Ellis looked as smooth as ever, really does seem like the guy just doesn’t make mistakes back there. Overall, it was a good showing for the Flyers, who needed to come out of that game with a win. Capitals had their “B” team and the Flyers had all their starters in besides Carter Hart.
Flyers Line Combinations
Farabee – Couturier – Konecny
Giroux had a maintenance day today, he’ll be back on the ice tomorrow, so we can breathe again. We see Farabee jump up into G’s spot, should be a very exciting line tonight. Farabee leads the team in goals in the preseason right now with 2. Konecny is someone that we’ve been hearing a ton of praise about from the coaching staff lately, would like to see him get on the scoresheet tonight.
Lindblom – Frost – Atkinson
Now, this line is interesting. I wanted Giroux – Frost – Atkinson when I first started thinking about line combos when the Hayes news came out. Always thought G & Frost had really good chemistry, add in a pure sniper with two playmakers like Giroux and Frost, watch out. With this line, we’re seeing the wings from the Lindblom – Brassard – Atkinson line surround Frost. Two feisty, tenacious players who can win board battles and get the puck to the playmaking forward. Really looking forward to watching this line tonight.
JVR – Desnoyers – NAK
After a stellar D+1 year where Elliot Desnoyers saw himself lead the Halifax Mooseheads in points (49), he’s getting a chance to center two NHL wingers. The Flyers have liked what they’ve seen from Elliot, and they’re officially giving him a shot to show what he can do. Exciting night for Desnoyers.
Bunnaman – Cates – Willman
A line that you might see end up being a line with Lappy and the Phantoms when their training camp sets to start in the next couple days. Don’t think anybody from this line has stood out in this camp, Willman has shown off that shot at times, but that’s it. We’ll see what they can bring tonight.
Provorov – Ellis
It seems like Provorov and Ellis have been playing together for years when I sit down and watch them. Yes, it’s only been a couple of preseason games but it’s really nice to see the two able to form chemistry so fast. Ellis says he tries to do everything with Provorov around the Flyers facility to help build as much chemistry as possible.
A leader.
Yandle – Wylie
Wylie is another young prospect getting a nice look with a stable veteran. I have really noticed Wylie’s skating ability in this camp, the kid can SKATE. He’ll be paired with Yandle, looking to impress AV and his probable head coach, Ian Laperriere.
Hogberg – Clendening
Really nice to see Hogberg, who suffered an oblique injury early in camp, back in action. He’ll be paired with veteran defenseman Adam Clendening, who is still fighting for that #7 defensive spot with Nick Seeler.
