76ers continue preseason homestead, host the Brooklyn Nets

The Philadelphia 76ers continue their preseason schedule this evening, taking on the Brooklyn Nets in their third of four matches ahead of the regular season. Nearly every starter will be out for tonight’s game, with the Nets being without some of their firepower as well.
Hopefully, the Sixers will give some of their young prospects extended minutes after playing the starting lineup and top backups heavily for the first two games. Philadelphia will be without Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, Shake Milton, Grant Riller, and of course, Ben Simmons tonight. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving is out for Brooklyn with no word yet on Kevin Durant or James Harden.
Without six of their 17 available players, the starters for Philadelphia will likely be Tyrese Maxey, Isaiah Joe, Danny Green, maybe Furkan Korkmaz, and Joel Embiid. It’s doubtful Embiid plays much time tonight, but it would be an excellent chance for Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed to build off their previous performances.
Jaden Springer hasn’t seen much time on the court after being drafted in the first round, so he could be another player to benefit from available minutes. The 76ers’ rotation is pretty much locked in for the start of the season, and they’ve had a reasonable amount of time to gain chemistry in practices and against Toronto.
Tonight and Friday should be all about letting the young guys have free reign for a few games. Paul Reed, Isaiah Joe, and Tyrese Maxey have worked hard all offseason to get their opportunity. Now it’s time to see what they got. After tonight, the 76ers’ next game in Philadelphia won’t be for another two weeks, when they face the Brooklyn Nets again, but in the regular season.
