Rasmus Ristolainen set to make Flyers debut; Martin Jones gets the nod tomorrow night against Boston

Monday night game against the Seattle Kraken was action packed from start to finish. You had six goals and two different fights, I haven’t seen the Wells Fargo Center jump and scream like they did in a really long time. Nick Seeler throwing hands with a huge guy in Jamie Oleksiak, Nate Thompson sticking up for his captain and letting everyone know he’s not to be touched.
According to Ristolainen himself, it looks like #70 is set to make his Flyers debut vs the Boston Bruins.
Sanheim – Ristolainen were the pairings according to Charlie O’Connor on twitter. We’ve seen this pairing throughout camp, so it doesn’t come with a suprise that’s where AV has Ristolainen slotted to start. I hear the argument that maybe you put Ristolainen with Yandle on the 3rd pair to let him get his legs under him, with the Sanheim – Braun pair having a pretty good game last night. AV said he’s going to make his decision on lineups tomorrow and see how Ristolainen feels when he wakes up, but we should see #70 make his debut at home against Boston.
Zack MacEwen (#17) was officially added to the roster this morning. MacEwen was dealing with visa issues causing him to miss time, but now he’s here and looks like he’ll be slotted into where Willman was playing on that 4th line. Willman was just sent down to the Phantoms today around 2:50pm, so MacEwen looks like he’s set to make his debut.
Martin Jones is another player set to make his Flyer debut tomorrow night against Boston. I had a feeling Jones was going to get the start, even though Hart has had himself a pretty good start to the season. FLA has scored 10 goals in their first 2 games and whichever goalie gets them Saturday will have their hands full. I don’t see the Flyers giving Hart all 4 games at home, then heading on that West Coast trip to EDM, VAN & CGY with Jones ice-cold. It doesn’t make any sense, give me Jones tomorrow with Ristolainen and MacEwen joining the lineup, and Hart against that scary FLA offense.
Projected Lineup vs Boston, 7pm on TNT
Giroux – Couturier – Konecny
Farabee – Brassard – Atkinson
Lindblom – Laughton – JVR
NAK – Thompson – MacEwen
Provorov – Ellis
Sanheim – Ristolainen
Yandle – Braun
Jones
Quick Hits
- Kevin Hayes was on the ice during practice today. Obviously he’s not participating fully, probably doing some individual work, but it’s good to see him out there.
- Egor Zamula was sent down to the Phantoms today, after being cleared from his injury he suffered in camp. Zamula will go down to the AHL where he will be playing Top 4 minutes.
- AV said he expects Brown to rejoin Flyers by Saturday, still in covid protocol
