76ers look to redeem themselves on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder

After a tough loss at home to the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers hope to redeem themselves on the road tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC is in the midst of an impressive rebuild but are 0-2 to start the season. It’ll be an intriguing matchup for the Sixers with the potential inactives for tonight.
Andre Drummond was seen favoring his ankle on Friday and was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. Last night, the team listed Drummond as doubtful, while Joel Embiid was questionable with his knee injury.
Embiid didn’t look close to 100% against the Nets and needs to be rested. There is no reason to risk further injury against the Thunder, especially so early in the season. Without Drummond or Embiid, the 76ers’ next best option is rookie Charles Bassey. Bassey has played just two minutes this season but won’t have a difficult debut against Derrick Favors.
For the rest of the Sixers, Tobias Harris will once again need to step up like he has the first two games. A Harris-led Sixers team is a rare sight, but it’ll be exciting to see how he does as the first option under Doc Rivers.
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Over/Under |
76ers | -8.5 (-106) | -360 | O 216.5 (-108) |
Thunder | +8.5 (-114) | +290 | U 216.5 (-112) |
Without Embiid or Simmons, the expectations for tonight won’t be high, but giving Bassey starting minutes will allow the 76ers to see what they have in their young center. For the Thunder, their top players to watch are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rookie Josh Giddey. If the 76ers come out and hustle, this should be an easy win. Even without Joel Embiid, this team is far more talented than the Thunder.
Prediction: 76ers 108 – Thunder 97
