James’ 76er of the Week: Week One

Hello and welcome to the newest series on The Liberty Line, James’ 76er of the Week. As we embark on this journey through the Sixers season, I will be recapping each week and highlighting one player that stood out to me. Through three games, Philadelphia sits at 2-1, and our first ever 76er of the Week goes to none other than…
Seth Curry
Our favorite Curry picked up right where he left off from the playoffs last year and has not skipped a beat. After only 10 points in season opener, Curry erupted in the last two with 23 and 28 respectively. Over the past week, the real Splash Brother combined to shoot nearly 77% (13/17) from three, and 69% (22/32) overall from the field.
As the most dependable floor spacer on the team, Curry has become the second option offensively and has not disappointed in that role thus far. Curry’s increased offensive efforts have been a product of his historical catch and shoot ability, but also his play on the ball and creating his own shots.
In all honesty, Curry should have more liberty offensively and I would love to see him get more shots up during the course of these games. His gravity as a shooter and play alongside Joel Embiid gives the Sixers an entirely new dimension that we haven’t seen since JJ Redick in 2019. Allowing Embiid to work in space and being the lone high volume perimeter creator, Curry has become invaluable to this squad and in turn a fan favorite as well.
Seth Curry earns the coveted, first ever 76er of the Week title, and I assume this won’t be his last either. Let me know what you guys think!
