Eagles legend Frank Gore will potentially fight Deron Williams on Jake Paul / Tommy Fury ticket December 18th

The world of boxing has been a weird one over the last year or two. A sport that has faded away from the spotlight has been rejuvenated the casual fanbase of boxing by YouTube celebrities. In a tweet from Shams this morning, he announced that there is going to be a NBA-Boxing world crossover, with Deron Williams fighting on the Jake Paul/Tommy Fury undercard bout on December 18th. His opponent? Well, it could possibly be none other than Philadelphia Eagles legend Frank Gore.
It looks like Frank Gore has been working out to become a boxer and has sent a few tweets looking for a fight.
As Shams mentioned in his tweet above, Gore is the NFL’s third all-time leading rusher. In a joke that’s almost been running for the last seven years, Gore is often said to be a Philadelphia Eagles legend after it was announced that he would be joining the Eagles in 2015. At the time, Gore agreed to sign a deal with the Eagles that included $7.5 million guaranteed in the first two years.
The Eagles needed a running back after shipping LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for Kiko Alonzo (yikes). After the deal was apparently set in stone, Gore apparently “got cold feet” and backed out of the agreement. Gore ended up going to the Colts and we brought in Demarco Murray to fill running back duties. We all know how that turned out.
Anyways, a lot of people hate the direction that boxing is heading. I don’t mind it. You finally have boxing back in the headlines and Shams tweeting out upcoming boxing matches. It has to be good for the sport, regardless of who’s fighting.
Cheers to the weekend.
