Justin Herbert named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for showing against Eagles

In an unsurprising announcement, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for his showing this past Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Herbert tore apart Jonathan Gannon’s horrible soft zone coverage, completing 32 of his 38 passes for 356 yards and two touchdowns.
The sophomore star is far from the first quarterback to dismantle Philadelphia’s defense, but his showing was the best of the group. Eight Chargers had over 20 yards receiving, with Justin Herbert consistently taking what was given to him by Gannon’s defense.
Five quarterbacks this season have completed 80% of their passes against the Eagles, and the group is on pace for a historically bad season. This week Nick Sirianni hopes to change course against an average Denver Broncos group coming off a blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys.
