The Liberty Yell Wednesday Night NHL picks via Parx Sportsbook (Week 3)

It’s Wednesday which means NHL betting picks over here at The Liberty Yell. We have a three-game slate with the first game not starting until 9 PM. The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Seattle Kraken in the nationally televised NHL on TNT game at 10 PM. We made our picks and put them in a parlay, and look to stay in the green in Week 3.
9PM: COL Avalanche (-165) @ VAN Canucks (+135)
The Colorado Avalanche have struggled mightily this season and aren’t living up to the preseason expectation of themselves. It’s still very early, but between the early start and injuries, this isn’t a confident team at the moment. Nathan MacKinnon is still out of the lineup with a lower-body injury and that’s clearly a key loss.
Vancouver, on the other hand, has actually been worse. After that magical run in the bubble through Thatcher Demko, the Canucks have been frustratingly disappointing. 5-9-1 on the year and currently in the midst of a 4 game losing streak. Despite the concerns, the Canucks have put up fights in all of their home games and haven’t lost by more than one goal at all. Between the home advantage and Thatcher Demko, the play for tonight seems like Canucks puck line.
Our Parx Sportsbook Pick: VAN Canucks +1.5 (-175)
10PM: CHI Blackhawks (+123) @ SEA Kraken (-150)
Both Chicago and Seattle come into this matchup fully rested and will probably have their starters go tonight. Seattle has been painfully boring this season and even have a loss to the Coyotes. The Blackhawks on the other hand have been better as of late and are 4-2 in their last 6.
Grubauer (SEA – G) comes into this matchup with a .880 SV% and a 3.50 GAA. Fleury for Chicago hasn’t been miles better, but his play recently leaves me to believe the defending Vezina winner is finding his mold. Dave Hakstol has the Kraken playing a boring style and it is not translating to wins, the pick here is Chicago.
Our Parx Sportsbook Pick: CHI Blackhawks ML (+123)
10:30PM: WSH Capitals (-110) @ LA Kings (-109)
Washington comes into this game on the second half of a back-to-back after dropping an overtime loss to the Ducks last night. The Capitals were getting outplayed in all facets until the third-period desperation hit and they used their starter, Vanecek, in net already. Back-up Ilya Samsonov has a .894 SV%, yet a 4-0-1 record.
The Kings, on the other hand, come into this game on 4 days of rest. Before their last loss in overtime to Winnipeg, the Kings were on a 7 game winning streak with the help of some fantastic goaltending. The old core is starting to mesh with the young guns and the Kings are a force right now. A home game on 4 days’ rest against a tired team that didn’t look too good. We’ll take the Kings.
Our Parx Sportsbook Pick: LA Kings ML (-109)
