Eagles extend Avonte Maddox to 3-year deal

Another extension for the Eagles 2018 draft class. Just one day after extending Dallas Goedert, the Eagles have signed Avonte Maddox to a three-year, $22.5 million deal, $13.3 million of which is guaranteed.

Following this deal, four of the five players drafted in 2018 have been signed to an extension, including Jordan Mailata and Josh Sweat.

Maddox has had a phenomenal year, going from one of the worst cornerbacks in football to a tremendous slot corner, having a 74.6 coverage grade, according to PFF. Philadelphia has begun to solidify a secondary core that now includes Darius Slay and Maddox.

There are still several important expiring deals ahead for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jason Kelce, Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, and numerous others are expected to be free agents this upcoming season, but Howie Roseman will likely bring back a good amount of those like T.J. Edwards and those named above.

For the Eagles, they are back in action tomorrow afternoon in a critical battle against the New Orleans Saints. With playoff hopes in the air, it would be a perfect time for the Birds to get their first win at the Linc this season.
