Sixers After Dark: The road trip continues in Portland

The Philadelphia 76ers are in Portland tonight to face Dame Lillard and the Blazers. They are coming off a very impressive road win against the Denver Nuggets, which snapped a five-game losing streak. Portland will take the court tonight an even 8-8 and winners of two straight games.
The Sixers will continue to play without Joel Embiid and of course, Ben Simmons. Matisse Thybulle has missed significant time on the COVID-19 health and safety list, but has been upgraded to questionable for tonight’s game. The Blazers are healthy and obviously led by CJ McCollum and Dame Lillard.
Portland has been great at home. They are 7-1 when playing in Portland, which is good for the NBA’s second best home record in the early start for the 2021 season. Over the last six games, Dame finally has returned to form, averaging 24.3 points on 45% shooting, with 7.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds a game. On the season, CJ McCollum is having a great year, averaging 20.5 points per game and a stellar 55.7% effective field goal percentage when playing at home.
As for the Sixers, Tyrese Maxey has been on absolute fire. Over the last five games, Maxey has put up the following numbers:
- 22 PTS, 60% FG, 67% 3PT
- 16 PTS, 50% FG, 50% 3PT
- 24 PTS, 67% FG, 75% 3PT
- 33 PTS, 63% FG, 33% 3PT
- 31 PTS, 50% FG, 44% 3PT

Look, I have led everyone down the wrong path twice now on the road trip. I thought the Sixers could cover a double digit spread against the Utah Jazz and they did not. I also thought that the Sixers would get smoked in Denver which of course didn’t happen either.
Still, the 76ers without Joel Embiid in the heart of a six game road trip, the best bet would always be to fade them so that’s what we’re going with again tonight.
Parx Sportsbook Prediction: Blazers -6.5
