Miserable in Memphis: 76ers get destroyed by the Grizzlies 126-91

Last night was absolutely miserable for the Philadelphia 76ers. After their best win of the season against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, the Sixers got destroyed by a Ja Morant-less Grizzlies team, 126-91 in Memphis.Â
Throughout the day yesterday, Sixers’ fans thought they were entering the game with a healthy lineup. Right before the game however, Seth Curry and Joel Embiid were both late scratches. Curry missed the game with right shoulder soreness and Joel Embiid was ruled out at tip-off with right rib soreness.Â
As we touched on yesterday, when Embiid is playing, the Sixers are a pretty good basketball team and hold a 12-5 record on the season. When he doesn’t play, The Sixers are now a miserable 3-8 on the year.
Memphis’ Dillon Brooks scored 23 points and Jaren Jackson Jr. posted 22 points to lead the Grizzlies over the Sixers. The Sixers literally had no one outside Tyrese Maxey, who scored 23 points and had seven assists on the night.Â
The Sixers as a team went 4-for-22 from three point range. Tobias Harris was 5-for-12 from the floor with 12 points. Matisse Thybulle, a starter, only shot the ball three times and scored four points. Furkan Korkmaz scored 10 points but has been shooting under 20% over the his 17 games from three point range. Danny Green? Zero points. Niang? 3-for-7 from the floor, six points. Isaiah Joe? 1-for-5 from the floor.
This team is miserable without Joel Embiid. Tobias Harris can’t take over a game to save his life. It was simply uninspiring basketball and something we should expect when Embiid and Curry are not in the lineup moving forward.
See you back in Philadelphia on Wednesday night against the Miami Heat.
