We need more of DeVonta Smith lined up next to Jordan Mailata

The Philadelphia Eagles walked away with a 27-17 win last night in South Philadelphia against the Washington Football Team.
I was in attendance last night and let me tell you, after a day full of tailgating and excessive drinking, I missed a few things that happened during the game. One of them, was this formation that Nick Sirianni used on the goal line, with DeVonta Smith lined up next to Jordan Mailata.
DeVonta Smith is officially listed at 6’0, 170lbs, while Jordan Mailata is listed as 6’8″, 365lbs. Anytime you put guys next to each other with that big of a height and weight difference, it’s going to look funny.
Jalen Hurts scored on the play to give the Eagles the lead. Smith was in next to Mailata to seal the edge. His three point stance was perfect and he got his hands on a WFT defender in the process.
Smitty ended the night with three catches for 50 yards. He was targeted five times and his one catch in the first quarter was honestly a thing of beauty.

Good stuff from the birds. Love the formation here by Nick Sirianni. I am however, going to need more targets for DeVonta Smith. Five isn’t going to cut it, especially when he’s toe dragging and catching passes like the one above.
