New Year, New Slate: Parx Sportsbook College Football Daily Specials

A new calendar year means a fresh slate in the world of sports gambling. You can forget about all bad beats of 2021 and look ahead to a new beginning.
If you bet Michigan to beat Georgia last night, none of that matters today. If you thought Cincinnati would cover against Alabama, no one can call you an idiot anymore because that happened last year. All of those bets are things of the past and today, we are born again.
Parx Sportsbook has three Daily Specials for today’s College Football action.
Penn State to Win vs Arkansas (boosted from +108 to +150)
White Out Weekly won’t be happy with this, but there’s no way I would take this boost.
Six Nittany Lions announced that they would be opting out from playing in the Outback Bowl this year and will be headed to the NFL instead. Fifth year defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo has opted out which means that the Lions will be without their starting two defensive tackles after senior PJ Mustipher suffered a season-ending injury in October.
Temple transfer Arnold Ebiketie, Penn State’s best pass rusher, will also be opting out to prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft. He accounted for 9.5 sacks and 18 tackles for losses this year with two blocked kicks. The Lions are also without All-Big Ten and All-American Jaquan Brisker. On the season, Brisker had 64 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.
On offense, Jahan Dotson opted out and he’s one of the best wide receivers in the country. In 2021, Dotson had 91 catches for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns, which all rank for second in Penn State single-season history. During his time at Penn State, Dotson had 183 catches for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Parx Sportsbook Pick: Arkansas -3 (-115) and Under 50.5 (-110).
50+ Points Scored in Notre Dame vs Oklahoma State (boosted from +140 to +180)
The No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowboys (11-2) will face the No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-1) Saturday in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl.
When I look at this game, all I see is defense. The Cowboys allowed the fewest points per game and yards per play in the Big XII last season and Notre Dame ranked eighth in defensive efficiency, ninth in points per play, and 14th in opponent’s third-down conversion rate.
Again, I’m not interested in this boost in the slightest. I also hate everything about Notre Dame in general and for the life of me, would never bet them to win anything.
Parx Sportsbook Pick: Oklahoma State Moneyline (-106) and Under 45.5 (-110)
Baylor to Win vs Mississippi (boosted from +100 to +140)
It’s very rare that I would go against all three Parx Sportsbook Daily Boosts but I’m not taking Baylor today in the Sugar Bowl.
Ole Miss enters today beating five out of their last six opponents by double-digits, including a 31-21 victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.Â
Yes, Baylor can be considered “battle-tested” after beating three ranked teams, including No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Oklahoma, in the final month of the season, while Ole Miss never beat a ranked team inside the Top 20. The game is a basically a pickem for reason.
I don’t hate taking the Baylor Bears here and if you’re going to play this odds boost, it’s honestly not going to bother me. I just fully expect Matt Corral to thrive in his final game at Ole Miss and beat Baylor today.
Parx Sportsbook Prediction: Ole Miss -1 (-109) and Over 58 (-114)
Additional CFB Picks
- Kentucky -3.5 (-105) over Iowa
- Ohio State -4 (-115) over Utah
Hope everyone is not too hungover today. Lets start 2022 off on the right foot.
Our bank accounts depend on it.
