Eagles will now play the Cowboys Saturday night in South Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Football Team yesterday to secure a spot in the 2022 NFL Playoffs via the Wild Card.
Following the win, the NFL announced that they would be moving the Eagles’ Week 18 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys from Sunday, January 9th at 1PM to Saturday, January 8th at 8:15PM.
Honestly, I’m not sure why they would move the birds game. Now that the Eagles have clinched a Wild Card berth, it’s likely that Nick Sirianni and company will rest their starters against a Dallas Cowboys team that also lacks incentive to play starters, as they punched their ticket to the playoffs already.
Throwing the Eagles in the Saturday night slot seems pointless, but I certainly won’t complain. No one should ever question adding another night game in South Philadelphia. We now get to enjoy a day full of tailgating down at the Linc and Saturday night football.
The move itself could benefit the Philadelphia Eagles. Assuming they do not play the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs, they will now have an extra day of preparation before Wild Card weekend kicks off the following week.
Even if we have a game with Gardner Minshew and Cooper Rush at quarterback, think of it as a celebration for the fact that a 2-5 Eagles team managed to win six of seven games and make the Wild Card in Week 17.
Ideally, Gardner Minshew will bring Minshew Mania to a national broadcast and destroy the Cowboys, boosting his trade value, since you know, we obviously have our franchise quarterback in Jalen Hurts.
Obviously, the Eagles will play on the road in the playoffs, so we might as well treat a Saturday night game like our playoff game before the actual playoffs. Think of it as a celebration.
Cheers to the Philadelphia Eagles. Wild Card, baby. Go Birds. Fly Eagles Fly.

It looks like nobody wants to play the game except the 2nd teamers… everyone is taking a chance not on getting hurt, but on catching covid.
[…] game pretty meaningless for the birds. It also brings up the question to why this game was flexed to Saturday night when it will likely be played like a preseason game. Both the Cowboys and Eagles are already […]
