The Disrespect: ESPN ranks Jalen Hurts as the second worst QB in the playoffs

Another day, another piece of locker room material for Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. In a week that has already brought us more than a few stupid questions by the media during Hurts’ press conferences, we now have ESPN+ and their quarterback playoff power rankings.
This list is stupid. I don’t know any other way to describe it. Hurts is ranked only above Ben Roethlisberger, with quarterbacks like Mac Jones and Ryan Tannehill above him. Maybe that explains why this list was on ESPN+ behind a paywall because the writers were too embarrassed to let people see it.
ESPN+ Quarterback Power Rankings:
- Patrick Mahomes
- Tom Brady
- Aaron Rodgers
- Josh Allen
- Joe Burrow
- Kyler Murray
- Dak Prescott
- Matthew Stafford
- Ryan Tannehill
- Derek Carr
- Jimmy Garoppolo
- Mac Jones
- Jalen Hurts
- Ben Roethlisberger
Not only is Jalen Hurts the youngest starting quarterback to enter the playoffs in the NFL, but his 102.7 passer rating in the red zone was first in the NFL this season.
Hurts also is the only quarterback this season, and the 7th EVER, to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 750 yards in a season. His dual threat ability alone is deserving for him to be ranked higher on this list.
He’s also the eighth quarterback in NFL history to rush for 10 touchdowns in a season, and fell just four rushing touchdowns away from matching Cam Newton’s rushing TD record in a single season.
Hurts is certainly not perfect but are we really putting Mac Jones and Ryan Tannehill above him? I’m certainly not going to do that.
Ryan Tannehill is a solid quarterback and has playoff experience, but lets be honest, he’s basically a game manager and he and the Titans almost completely rely on Derrick Henry for success.
As for Mac Jones, sure, he edges out Hurts in passing yards and touchdowns, but on the ground, he’s worthless. Hell, even through the air there was one game against the Buffalo Bills where he only attempted three total passes. There’s no way I’d rank him above Hurts, or really, any quarterback on the list.
I can’t wait for Jalen Hurts to shit on this list come Sunday against Tampa Bay. Make sure you take advantage of this exclusive Parx Sportsbook x The Liberty Line offer.
