Joel Embiid offers to cover Jose Alvarado's fine for Double Technical

During the game between the 76ers and Pelicans on Tuesday night, Joel Embiid and Jose Alvarado were issued double technicals.

Since it was Jose Alvarado’s first tech, it would have cost him a pretty penny, especially for a guy an undrafted rookie on a two way contract.

Hailing from New York City, he has been a great story over the last few weeks with a breakout game in his hometown at Madison Square Garden. Some of the Pelicans players paid for his family’s tickets to come watch him play basketball, and now Joel Embiid is picking up the tab on his technical foul.

For Embiid, this is just another gesture proving that he is a genuinely kind person. There is no obligation for him to reach out to anyone in the league, let alone a player he probably doesn’t know at all.

Nice move from Joel Embiid here. Give him the Most Valuable Player Award, the Man of the Year Award, and any other award available. Watching Embiid grow and mature has been amazing over the past few seasons and now he’s playing like the best basketball player in the world. Add this to the list of accolades he’s been collecting over the past couple months.
