Phillies top prospect quotes 76ers star Joel Embiid in recent interview

Hundreds of Phillies’ prospects made the trip down to Clearwater, Florida for the first day of minor-league camps on Wednesday. While Major League Baseball is still in full lockdown, the minor league season will go on as usual.
Mick Abel and Andrew Painter, the top two pitching prospects in the Phillies organization, came together after their second day of practice Thursday to answer questions from the media. When the two were asked about playing in the majors one day, Mick Abel provided the perfect answer for the whole city of Philadelphia.
Joel Embiid said it best: Trust the Process.
Mick Abel’s answer was as spot-on as you can get. Both himself and Painter still have long ways to go before they reach the majors, but going through the minor leagues has always been a process like Abel said. That process has started off well for the pair of pitchers as both put together good campaigns in their first season in the minors.

Quoting Joel Embiid was the perfect answer for Abel, and if he’s like any of us, he has Embiid on his mind constantly. The All-Star center is one of the best players in the world right now, a frontrunner for MVP, and leads the league in scoring. The Sixers are coming off a huge 123-120 win in Milwaukee Thursday thanks to nonother than Embiid himself. The vibes in Philadelphia are currently through the roof with James Harden set to make his debut following the All-Star break.

Mick Abel is currently the no. 1 prospect throughout the entire Phillies organization. Abel was drafted with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 draft, and wasted little time getting back to his high-school self. The 19-year-old posted 66 strikeouts in just 44.2 innings of work in 2021, finishing the season with a 4.43 ERA.
Andrew Painter was selected by the Phillies with the 13th pick in the 2021 MLB draft. At just 18 years old, he threw six innings in the Florida Complex League last year. The right-hander posted 12 strikeouts in that time, turning heads for the future of the Phillies’ starting rotation.
Mick Abel knew exactly what he was doing here, and he nailed it. Quote Joel Embiid and everybody will love you. The Sixers head into the All-Star break sitting at third place in the Eastern Conference, while Abel and Painter get ready for their 2022 seasons down in Clearwater.
Trust the Process, Mick. Trust the Process.
