Preview: Flyers look to snap a 5 game losing streak against St. Louis

The Philadelphia Flyers take on the St. Louis Blues tonight at 7 in the second half of a back-to-back set. Philadelphia is currently on a 5 game losing streak while St. Louis sits third in the central division with a playoff spot.
It’s no secret the Flyers have packed it in, and so have the fans. At this point in the season it’s all about boosting stocks for the trade deadline/draft and watching players take opportunities they normally wouldn’t receive.
Gerry Mayhew and Isaac Ratcliffe absolutely fall under this category. If this season went according to plan these two would be regular Phantoms players in Lehigh Valley, but here we are and both of these players have been showing up recently. It’s nice to see someone be a bright-spot outside of Carter Hart.
Flyers’ goal-scoring leaders since Jan. 20:
— Jordan Hall (@JHallNBCS) February 22, 2022
1. Gerry Mayhew — 6
2. Claude Giroux — 4
2. Scott Laughton — 4
4. Cam Atkinson — 2
4. Justin Braun — 2
4. Oskar Lindblom — 2
4. Travis Sanheim — 2
Speaking of Carter Hart, he’s been ruled out of this contest as well with an eye infection. Martin Jones will be receiving the start once more.

Tank Watch:

We have two games on the tank radar tonight in Minnesota vs. Ottawa and the New York Islanders vs Seattle.
Seattle has floated 4 points below the Flyers in the standings for what feels like the last month or so. If you take into account all of the losing the Flyers have done, it paints the picture of how awful the Seattle Kraken are this year. We’re about to have our third, ten-game losing streak within 60 games and they still can’t pass us.
Ottawa has now finally passed us, but the margain is only by a single point with a game in hand. I’d like to see them capture some points and pull away from the Top-5 pack.
The Flyers are +185 to win on Parx Sportsbook, but with the state of the team and Jones in net, I’d lean to Over 5.5 at -165.
