Joel Embiid’s airplane celebration is being added to Fortnite

One of Joel Embiid’s signature celebrations is coming to Fortnite. During the NBA’s All-Star weekend, fans could vote on a new emote that they could use in the popular free-to-play game.
The fan vote winner was Joel Embiid’s airplane celebration, made famous after Embiid’s windmill dunk against the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 playoffs.
Other candidates included Trae Young’s shiver and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s sitting down celebration he did against the 76ers last season.
To be quite honest, I didn’t even realize Fortnite was still around. I stopped playing years ago when the majority of the population agreed it was no longer fun.
After taking a quick look, the game seems to be a former shell of what it used to be. It’s full of advertisements through the way of skins and other cosmetic items. They got Batman, Spider-Man, LeBron, and even Ariana Grande.
It’s not even like the skins are free or dirt cheap. They charge their players over $10 for each one, which is outrageous.
I also don’t understand why these three celebrations were chosen. Embiid’s finger guns or his DX thrust are more iconic, and Giannis’ sitting down is boring. The people making these games likely don’t watch any sports so I can get why nothing better was picked.
For the five people that continue to play and pay for all these overpriced skins, I’m sure they’ll enjoy flying around as Embiid.
