Bryce Harper opting to leave the Phillies and join the Yomiuri Giants since the MLB is still locked out

Well this is just great. Reigning MVP and Philadelphia Phillies right fielder posted a photo on Instagram today asking if the Yomiuri Giants were up and interested in having him play for their team since the MLB and MLBPA can’t seem to get a deal done to save the 2022 season.
Bryce Harper’s Instagram Story

Yep. Bryce Harper, photoshopped in a Yomiuri Giants uniform, a team based out of the Central League in Nippon Professional Baseball.
Harper told the team to reach out to his agent Scott Boras, saying “lets talk”.
Look, I get it. With the current state of the MLB lockout, these players are fed up but to see Bryce Harper, our guy, campaign to leave the United States to head to Japan just to play baseball is a tough pill to swallow, even more so on his three year anniversary of signing with the Phillies.
On another hand, if we get to see Bryce Harper play baseball, even if it’s with the Yomiuri Giants then let’s ride. I have zero issue staying up late and watching the Giants play baseball.
Harper should have went back to his pandering ways and opted to stick around the city and join the Philadelphia 76ers. I wouldn’t hate having Harper come off the bench and provide some additional support for the future NBA Champions.
Lord knows that Harper is better than Furkan Korkmaz already.
On a serious note, this isn’t good. Bryce Harper finally breaking his silence on the lockout just shows how far we are from an actual new CBA. I don’t know who to blame at this point so we’re going to blame everyone. Not having a full MLB season for the second time over the last three seasons is bad for baseball.
Luckily, we have the 76ers to hold us over until both sides can reach a deal on a new CBA.
UPDATE:
The joke isn’t funny anymore. If Bryce Harper goes to Japan, I go to Japan. This is now tampering.
