Directly after the closing of the trade deadline, Derick Brassard has reportedly been traded to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2023 4th round draft pick.

There was interest in Jones but Flyers were concerned about the injury issues with the prospect goalies this season. Ideally wanted a backup goalie back as part of it.
Brassard is 34 years old and has 16 points in 31 games played this season. He missed a good portion of the season due to injuries, but when healthy, he’s been pretty efficient.

It’s a shame he’s had to deal with all of these injuries because I’ve enjoyed watching him when he’s in full gear. The reality is that this trade needed to be done as Brassard would’ve walked in the offseason anyways.
Getting an asset for the 2023 NHL Draft is huge as we know how stacked it’s shaping up to be. I wish the Flyers moved more expiring players this deadline, but at least they got this one right.
