Leo’s NBA double-double parlay picks of the day

No, despite me being from SoCal, this is not an article about In-an-Out double-doubles but a much more lucrative kind of double-double commonly found in the NBA.
Thanks largely to BetMGM, I have discovered a gold mine of NBA player props to bet on. Everyone loves to try and guess who will nab a triple-double for the night with the odds heavily inflated due to its rarity, but few talk about the uglier step-brother of the triple-double the double-double.
What heightens the prospect of double-doubles is when you parlay a couple of them together for some insane odds. Yes, everyone’s favorite sports betting method is the parlay, but I can assure you there won’t be any crazy 5-10 leg parlays here, and if there are, I’ll make sure you know just how risky it is.
Leo’s Lock Today: Joel Embiid, Jrue Holiday, Darius Garland to record a Double-Double (+892)
Thursday’s are usually one of the slower days in the NBA, but we’ve got five games that all bring intriguing prospects in contention for double-doubles.
Joel Embiid Double-Double versus Pistons (-350)
First off the bat is the Philadelphia 76ers eyeing a bounce-back win after the ugly loss to the Bucks on Tuesday. I was debating between James Harden for this, who has much better odds (-140), but he has been ramping up his scoring more than passing as of late. Harden hasn’t recorded a double-double since the Clippers game, which I don’t really count, considering he ended up with 15 rebounds. The last time he nabbed them with assists and points was the Mavericks nearly two weeks ago.
Joel Embiid has grabbed double-doubles in both prior games against the Pistons, including a 30 point, 18 rebound game early in the season. While the 76ers are heavily favored to win this game, the Pistons have a lot of young guys that should keep the Sixers starters in for a reasonable amount of time. Embiid loves to play extended minutes, even against inferior opponents, so I like Embiid here more despite the steeper odds (-350).
Jrue Holiday Double-Double versus Nets (+375)
Now, this is my riskier play for the day, as Jrue Holiday doesn’t have a ton of double-double worthy games this season. However, he has one in two of his last three games, and the pattern shows that Holiday ends up with double-doubles in high-scoring affairs games.
Tonight the Bucks have to take on the full-strength Nets. With their fight for the top seed in the East ongoing and the Nets trying to boost their spot in the play-ins, both teams should treat this like a playoff game. I love Jrue to grab a double-double in what will be the game of the day.
Giannis was also an obvious candidate for this pick, but his odds were just too terrible to take at -900. Every parlay has risk, and tonight it’ll be the former 76er to bring us home for the parlay.
Darius Garland Double-Double versus Hawks (-160)
One of the sneaker double-double contenders as of late has been sophomore standout Darius Garland. With Sexton out of the offense and multiple other Cavs hurt, all of the offense has fallen onto Garland. He’s responded well and recorded a double-double in six of the Cavs’ last seven games.
Tonight Garland and the Cavs take on the Hawks as they try and fight back for the sixth seed with the surging Raptors. Trae Young was another good candidate at slightly worse odds (-175), but I like Garland since the injuries on Cleveland force him to facilitate completely for this offense. Taking Young’s line is also a good bet, but I’ll roll with Garland tonight, who I believe has more upside at better odds.
So that’s tonight’s parlay, and who doesn’t love +892 odds? Just remember not to commit a ton of units to this because, at the end of the day, it is a parlay. The most important thing is that you’re using BetMGM for this, as all my odds are directly through there, and if you like TLL, you can sign up for BetMGM right here.
