Bryce Harper pays tribute to Mike Schmidt in new media guide

Mike Schmidt is the greatest player in Philadelphia Phillies history as well as the best third basemen of all-time. In 1986 he won his third and final MVP award when he hit 37 HR and 119 RBI at age 36.
Bryce Harper is quickly ascending that list of Phillies greats by winning his 2nd NL MVP and the first for a Phillies player since Jimmy Rollins in 2007.
So it seems fitting that 35-years later, Harper would don a tuxedo and red bow tie to pay homage to Schmidt for the new 2022 Media Guide.
Bryce Harper – Mike Schmidt

This is fantastic. The Phillies did a great job recreating the absurd backdrop and the whole cummerbund thing screams 1980’s.
I do have one small criticism. I thought Bryce could have gone a little further and sported a full mustache. In my opinion he looks a little too clean cut.
Although I get it, Mike Schmidt is simply a man’s man. It’s a difficult task for anyone, let alone Bryce, to reproduce the sheer sexuality popping off the page.
Guys were just different back then. There is a zero percent chance Michael Jack hydrated his face with a chemical peel and made sure his eyebrows were trimmed the night before this picture was taken. In fact, he probably rolled out of bed, smoked a Marlboro Red and had a steak for breakfast.
Regardless, for a franchise like the Phillies that usually comes off as inept, this was a nice nod to the past and good work connecting it to the current club.
