Howie Roseman doubles down on Jalen Hurts following trade with Saints

Earlier this month, the Eagles agreed to a blockbuster trade, sending one of their first-round picks this year to New Orleans in exchange for draft capital in 2023.
Following this deal, Philadelphia now has the assets necessary to find a new quarterback if Jalen Hurts underwhelms next season. When asked if the QB position impacted the trade, GM Howie Roseman once again reaffirmed Hurts’ status with the team:
“We’re excited about Jalen Hurts. We’re gonna support Jalen and want him to have a great career in Philly. This was about flexibility for our team and about making sure we have resources to improve our team.”
Roseman stated that the trade was about “increasing all options” rather than having a backup plan at quarterback. The Eagles still have five picks within the first three rounds of the upcoming draft, ample resources to add talent for their young QB.
