Rumor: Eagles zeroing in on WR Jameson Williams

It is officially Draft Week and the Eagles could potentially be taking a receiver in the first round for the third consecutive year.
According to ESPN’s Todd McShay, the Eagles have their eyes on Alabama WR Jameson Williams:
“Multiple execs I spoke with think Alabama wideout Jameson Williams is the Philadelphia Eagles’ preference at No. 15. And if not Philly, then the New Orleans Saints could be his floor at No. 16. If another team wants Williams, it will probably have to move up to at least the Baltimore Ravens’ No. 14 slot. Baltimore — which already has eight picks in Rounds 2 to 4 — is always willing to move back.”
Williams is coming off a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship Game but is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery. When healthy, Williams is the most explosive receiver in this class.
NFL.com’s scouting report of Jameson Williams:
“Linear route-runner with electric long speed to impact a game as a home-run hitter or decoy drawing defenders away from other elements of the offense. Williams ruins man coverage but faces some limitations. He has issues getting off press cleanly and might require some scheming to help get off the mark cleanly against certain corners. Catch toughness can be inconsistent when contested or in heavily trafficked areas. He has all the juice to find consistent separation on vertical, over and post/corner routes and could see monstrous production if paired with a high-end talent at quarterback. The ACL tear could play a role in determining his ultimate draft destination, but it’s unlikely to change his game.“
After being buried on the depth chart at Ohio State, Williams transferred to Alabama for his junior season and caught 79 passes for 1,572 yards (led SEC) and 15 touchdowns.
Williams could be the ideal running mate alongside DeVonta Smith for years to come. With the No. 15 and 18 overall picks at his disposal, GM Howie Roseman should be well within striking distance for the Alabama star.
