Eagles draft Nebraska center Cam Jurgens at No. 51 overall

The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Nebraksa center Cam Jurgens with the 51st pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Jurgens is expected to be the replacement for Jason Kelce at center following this season, after Landon Dickerson transitioned out to guard during his rookie year. Standing at 6’3 and weighing 290 pounds, Jurgens is a physically imposing player who is known best for his zone-blocking ability.

Like Kelce, Jurgens is elite at getting to the second-level and destroying linebackers, playing hard to the whistle on every down. One issue is his weight, but Jeff Stoutland has shown to fix that with rookies on numerous instances, so it’s no cause for concern.

The Eagles’ offensive line is now loaded going into 2022, and they now have their young core locked in between Jurgens, Dickerson, and Jordan Mailata. Philadelphia is back on the clock later tonight with the 83rd pick in the third round.
