Series Preview: Phillies continue West Coast trip with 4 games against the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Phillies got a much needed series win yesterday in Seattle and will attempt to ride their hot bats all the way to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers in a four game series starting tonight at 10:10 EST.
The Phillies offense came alive in Seattle, putting up 18 runs in three games, while the pitching staff allowed just seven. Rhys Hoskins is scorching hot, homering in three straight games which included a grand slam yesterday.
With the Philadelphia 76ers playing in a must-win game at 7PM in South Philly, tonight could either be a great night or yet another miserable night in Philly sports with the Phillies-Dodgers first pitch just after 10PM.
I’m not going to say I’m heating up on the picks, but I’m heating up on the picks.
Rhys Hoskins +420 HR was about as free as money comes, and we’re not going to stop tonight.
FOX Bet Odds Boosts
- Freddie Freeman or Nick Castellanos 2+ Hits +100
- Rhys Hoskins or Cody Bellinger HR +200
- Zack Wheeler 6 Ks and Phillies Win +300
Nick Castellanos is one of the purest hitters I’ve ever seen in a Phillies uniform, and Rhys Hoskins is about as hot as anyone across major league baseball right now. Zack Wheeler is fresh off the COVID list, and got a plane out to LA yesterday to make tonight’s start.
Series Pitching Matchups
- Thursday (10:10 EST): Zack Wheeler vs Tyler Anderson
- Friday (10:10 EST): Kyle Gibson vs Clayton Kershaw
- Saturday (10:10 EST): Ranger Suarez vs Walker Buehler

Zack Wheeler vs Tyler Anderson
Zack Wheeler takes the hill for the Phillies tonight fresh off a private jet. Wheeler hit the COVID list a few days back but was ready just in time to make his scheduled start tonight. He’s tallied 26.1 innings this season, allowing 24 hits and 12 earned runs, while striking out 25 batters. He’ll be facing Tyler Anderson from the Dodgers, who has thrown a 2.78 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched, with a WHIP of 0.97.

Are the Phillies back?
There’s nobody on this earth that gets fooled by this baseball team more than me. Time after time, the Phillies reel you in, and then they smack you right across the face and ruin your day. It’s crazy to think that the 9th inning collapse could’ve helped this baseball team, considering they are 4-2 since that night.
The Phillies offense dominated the Seattle Mariners pitching staff. The Phils combined slashed a line of .269/.319/.481, with Rhys Hoskins and Bryce Harper leading the way. Harper slashed .545/.615/.727 vs the Mariners, while Hoskins crushed .462/.462/1.154 with 3 HRs.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers were the #1 team coming into this season, and they have yet disappoint. They’re 20-9 on the season but are coming off a tough series against the Pirates where they lost 2 of 3.
Freddie Freeman is leading the way, hitting .315/.402/.509 on the year. Mookie Betts leads the team with 5 HRs, while speedster shortstop Trae Turner leads the team with 21 RBIs.
Their pitching has also been phenomenal. The Phillies will see all of their top three arms this season, in Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, and Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw leads the team with a 1.80 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
