Phillies Preview: Kyle Gibson on the bump in game 2 vs the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Phillies collected a nail-biting win out in Los Angeles last night after a collapse struck the bullpen in the 8th inning.
After holding a 7-1 lead, the Dodgers put up 6 total runs in the 6th and 8th innings to tie the game heading into the final frame. The Phillies scored two in the 9th, and although Corey Knebel wanted to make it interesting by loading the bases, he worked himself out of a jam to secure a 9-7 win for the Fightins.
The bats were going for both teams last night. 24 hits were recorded in Thursday night’s thriller, including two each from Bryce Harper, Jean Segura, and JT Realmuto. Johan Camargo and Bryce Harper homered, and Zack Wheeler got the job done on the bump, throwing five and a third.
Although the news about Bryce Harper’s UCL tear isn’t ideal, it still isn’t affecting his bat. Harper is slashing .435/.462/.826 over the last 7 days, with 10 hits, three doubles, two home runs, and five RBIs in 23 at-bats, tallying a 1.288 OPS. It’s remarkable watching Bryce hit the baseball, and thank god for the universal DH.
The team now turns their attention to tonight. Clayton Kershaw, who was supposed to match up with Gibson tonight, is now headed to the IL with right SI joint inflammation in his lower back. Walker Buehler will now go up against Kyle Gibson.

I’m buying back into the Phillies again, what a surprise. They NEVER win that game last night in a million years. Something is clicking, and I’m feeling like the bats continue to stay hot tonight. Phillies win 6-4.
