Report: Eagles were in talks with Nick Foles before he signed with Colts

Former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is headed to his sixth team, agreeing to terms on a two-year deal with the Colts.
Before signing with Indianapolis, however, the Eagles reportedly had talks with Foles about a potential reunion.
The Eagles were involved in Nick Foles’ free agency for a potential reunion of Super Bowl winners before Foles signed his two-year deal the Colts, per source.

The interest in Foles is puzzling from the Eagles’ perspective. They added UDFA QB Carson Strong following the draft and still have Gardner Minshew on the roster behind Jalen Hurts.
Unless it was strictly for sentimental purposes, bringing him in wouldn’t have made much sense.
Foles has spent time in Jacksonville and Chicago since capturing Philadelphia’s first Lombardi, throwing for over 2800 yards, 14 TDs and 10 INTs in 14 games.
He now cements himself as Matt Ryan’s backup, just two months after former starter Carson Wentz was shipped out of town.
