Preview: Gibson on the mound for the Phillies as they look for their second straight win vs Braves

The Phillies take on the Braves tonight in game two of a four-game set after an early offensive spark, followed by a Zack Wheeler masterclass pushed the Phillies to a 7-3 win last night in Atlanta. Kyle Gibson (3-2, 3.98 ERA) is set to take the mound tonight for the Phils, facing Max Fried (4-2, 3.31 ERA) for the Braves.
Rhys Hoskins led the way last night with 3 RBIs, while JT Realmuto, Jean Segura, and Alec Bohm all tacked on two hits each. Roman Quinn added a double and two RBIs, in addition to a 99 mph strike from centerfield to throw out William Contreras in the bottom half of the first. Zack Wheeler was lights out once again, tallying 6.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs, and struck out 10 batters.

FOX Bet Odds Boosts
- Bryce Harper and Ronald Acuna 2+ Hits Each +1100
- Max Fried 10+ Ks and Braves Win +900
- Kyle Gibson 7+ Ks and Phillies Win +600
Kyle Gibson hasn’t been a strikeout machine this season, but I don’t hate this bet with the current odds. Harper is a career 7/20 with 2 HRs and 3 RBIs against Max Fried, and it seems like Ronald Acuna is just due to kill us sometime this series.
Final Pick: Harper and Acuna 2+ Hits Each +1100

Tonight’s Pitching Matchup
Phillies: Kyle Gibson will take the hill for the Phillies tonight, looking to capitalize on a good start last Thursday vs San Diego. Gibson went five and two-thirds, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven. He hasn’t been great on the road this season, tallying a 6.27 ERA in four starts, and 13 earned runs allowed in 18.2 innings.
Braves: Max Fried gets the start for the Braves, making his ninth start of the season. Fried is 2-2 at home this season, with a 3.90 ERA and 27 strikeouts. His last outing was against Milwaukee, where he allowed seven hits and three earned runs in six total innings while striking out six.

Tonight’s Starting Lineup
Lineup Notes: Tonight’s lineup stays the exact same as last night’s. Gibson is on the mound, Roman Quinn stays in center, and Johan Camargo is at short.
Prediction
Tonight’s pitching matchup doesn’t really go in our favor, but I do like the Phillies offense to keep hitting tonight. It feels like a game that will be close through the first five, then breaks open later in the game.
