Phillies Roster Moves: Maton and Sanchez recalled, Quinn DFA’d, Segura hits 10-day IL

The Phillies have made a multitude of roster moves leading up to tonight’s game vs the San Francisco Giants.
LHP Cristopher Sanchez and INF Nick Maton have been recalled from Lehigh Valley. INF Jean Segura has been placed on the 10-day IL with a fracture in his right index finger, after getting hit by a pitch in last night’s loss. Roman Quinn has also been designated for assignment.
Sanchez has made three appearances with Lehigh Valley this year, with two of them being starts. He holds a 2.70 ERA down in AAA, allowing just three earned runs in 10 innings. He was up with the Phillies at the beginning of the season, making five appearances (one start), tallying a 5.84 ERA in 12.1 innings.
Nick Maton has been recalled along with Cristopher Sanchez and will make his first major league start of the 2022 season tonight at shortstop. He’s hitting .241/.360/.462 in 41 games with Lehigh Valley, with 5 HRs, 30 RBIs, 35 hits, and an OPS of .822 in 175 plate appearances. Maton played 52 games for the Phillies last season, slashing .256/.323/.385.
Jean Segura will officially hit the 10-day IL after Joe Girardi confirmed positive X-Rays for a fracture in his right index finger. Segura was off to a pretty solid start this season, hitting .275/.324/.407 in 44 games, tallying 6 HRs, 19 RBIs, 46 hits, and 22 runs scored. With Segura now out, expect more rotational playing time for Maton/Stott/Camargo until Didi Gregorius returns from his injury.
Roman Quinn has officially been DFA’d by the team. Quinn struggled on offense again but was the best defensive option in centerfield until Mickey Moniak returned. Roman hit .162/.225/.189 in 37 at-bats, with just 3 RBIs and 6 hits.
Up Next for the Phillies
The Phillies look to get back in the win column tonight, as they take on the San Francisco Giants in the series finale. Aaron Nola takes the hill for the Phils.
