Martin Perez and Zack Wheeler earn MLB Pitchers of the Month honors

After a brutal start to the 2022 MLB season, Phillies’ ace Zack Wheeler returned to form in the month of May, and has now been named the National League Pitcher of the Month for the first time in his career.
Wheeler went 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA in the month of May. He had 40 strikeouts over five starts, while his fastball returned to where we saw it last year in the upper-90s.
In the National League, Wheeler’s May ERA of 1.65 ranked third. His 40 strikeouts were tied for third with Aaron Nola. As for the American League, Martin Perez took home the honors for the first time in his career, leading all qualified starters with a 0.64 ERA. Perez was 4-0 with 33 strikeouts in six starts, all of which, the Rangers won.
Wheeler will take the mound tonight for the Phillies facing Michael Lorenzen of the Los Angeles Angels. The Phillies will look for their third straight win after beating the crap out of the Angels last night, 10-0 final.
