Roster Moves: Didi Gregorius reinstated from 10-day, Nick Maton hits IL

Phillies infielder Didi Gregorius has been reinstated from the 10-day IL prior to today’s matinee matchup with the Angels. After his nasty fall on his beautiful snag at second base on Friday night, Nick Maton has hit the 10-day IL, retro to 6/4.
Didi Gregorius has returned from the 10-day IL, after a month of rehab and minor-league reps getting the strength back in his left knee. Gregorius left the game on May 5th with knee soreness, where it was later revealed that he suffered a sprain.
The best-case scenario would be not to have Didi in the lineup every day. Rob Thomson has already proved that he loves playing the young guys, with Alec Bohm, Mickey Moniak, and Bryson Stott in the lineup every day since Girardi’s departure. Gregorius will get time in the lineup with Maton out, but once he’s back, Nick should get his spot right back in the lineup. Gregorius has played just 18 games this season, hitting .288/.338/.356 with 17 hits and 7 RBIs.
Nick Maton has been on fire since joining the major-league team in 2022. Maton took a nasty fall after making his acrobatic catch on Friday, but luckily, his shoulder is just sprained. In just 6 at-bats, Maton is hitting .500/.571/1.333, with 1 HR and 4 RBIs. He’s been a spark all around the clubhouse, whether it’s in the field or at the plate.
