Phillies Roster Moves: The Return of JETPAX SZN

The Philadelphia Phillies announced a few roster moves ahead of tonight’s series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Scott Kingery and Matt Vierling will rejoin the major league club while Johan Camargo will head to the 10-day IL with a strained right knee. Zack Wheeler will head to the paternity list, but isn’t scheduled to pitch until Friday.
Jetpax SZN: Former Phillies top prospect Scott Kingery was assigned to Triple A Lehigh Valley on May 18th after recovering from shoulder surgery that he had last July to repair a torn labrum. After hitting a home run in his season debut, Kingery to say the least, has cooled off while playing with the IronPigs.
In 54 at-bats this season, Kingery was slashing a less-than-stellar .185/.297/.593 with 10 hits, eight runs, a home run, and six RBI. With Camargo and Nick Maton both on the injury list, the Phillies needed to add some infield depth and Kingery is the next man up from Triple A. Let’s hope he can make the best of it.
Matt Vierling, who made the Phillies Opening Day roster as their starting centerfielder, will also rejoin the major league club. In 85 at-bats in Triple A this season, Vierling slashed .271/.347/.806 with two home runs and nine RBI.
As mentioned above, Zack Wheeler will head to the paternity list. He’s not scheduled to pitch until Friday, so skipping the quick three game road trip to Milwaukee and remaining home makes sense.
The Phillies are back in action tonight against the Brewers. Ranger Suarez on the mound.
